Common Projects: New Editions

I’ve had my eye on Common Projects for a few years now but never had the chance to pick up a pair. They specialize in making shoes and sneakers with classic silhouettes, with a focus on quality construction and materials. The results are always super clean. In Spring ’12, they are launching a new collection of sneakers called New Editions. Everyday footwear with the same thought into craft as the rest of their products. Said to range from $125-155, which makes a pretty much insta-cop for me. Definitely want the grey suede hightops, but I mean all of them are beautiful. Will be available at Tres Bien. (Source)

Fall Winter 2011 Painting Collection by Andrew Agutos

This season I painted on either one of two formats, a 5 x 3 foot verticle canvas or a square. I’m using unfamilar but limited color combinations on each one. I’ve been less strict about design/perfectness- developing new ways visually for the colors to interact with each other, and also with the surface’s picture plane and edges. A mix of flat and heavy paint is used along with transparency and tangling of forms. I’m investigating how to open up the canvas by covering up a lot of what has been added. Each painting was approached with a different atmosphere and mood in mind. These can also be seen on my newly updated portfolio. Thanks for looking, any feedback is appreciated!
